Exposure of unerupted teeth
In some patients teeth do not erupt into their final position and remain stuck under the gum and jawbone. Exposing the tooth surgically allows access for your orthodontist to bring into its correct position using orthodontic appliances.
This procedure is usually recommended by your Orthodontist, once they have determined that the tooth will not erupt naturally and can be carried out under local anaesthetic or sedation in our surgery rooms.
Frenectomy
A frenectomy is a simple surgical procedure that involves removing or reshaping the frenum, which is a small soft tissue band, located under the upper or lower lip and connecting to the gum. When a frenum is too wide or long, it can create a space between the two front teeth and lead to other periodontal (gum) issues.
